Supporting education in Uganda
Tutoring Heroes gives 10% of its profits to support the work of Uganda Lodge Community Projects, a small local project in rural Uganda. Our support helps provide education for local children now, while also helping to develop a coffee farm that will support the school in the long term.
From one classroom to 500 children
When I first visited the project in 2009, it consisted of one classroom with around 30 children. After returning home, I continued to sponsor children and follow the project's development while building my career as a teacher.
Ten years later, I started Tutoring Heroes. As it grew, we became able to support the project on a much greater scale and began giving 10% of our profits in 2024.

Strong results and growing opportunities
Today, the school has grown to eight classrooms and four dormitories, with around half of its 500 children boarding.
The school currently provides primary education. In the most recent Primary Leaving Examinations, every final-year pupil passed, with 39% achieving Division 1, the highest division, compared with 11% nationally.
An increasing number of children are going on to secondary school, with longer-term plans to expand the school's own provision beyond primary education.

Funding education for the future
A major focus of our support has been helping the project develop a large coffee farm that can generate income to fund the children's education and reduce its reliance on donations.
So far, 33,000 coffee trees have been planted, with the aim of reaching 50,000. Tutoring Heroes has provided a significant part of the funding needed to develop the farm, alongside support from other donors.
Once established, the income generated by the farm will fund the education of more than 500 children each year, while also providing employment within the local community.
Our commitment remains simple: 10% of Tutoring Heroes' profits goes towards supporting education in Uganda. As Tutoring Heroes grows, we hope the contribution we can make will grow with it, supporting the education of more young people and creating greater opportunities within the local community.
