Getting started

A thoughtful match, from the very first conversation.

Tell us about your child

We want to understand more than the subject or subjects they need support with. Tell us about your child, what they're like, what they enjoy and what you'd like them to achieve through tutoring.

We consider the right tutor

We use what you've told us, alongside your child's academic needs, to decide which of our tutors we think will suit them best. If they need support across more than one subject, we'll also consider whether it's better for them to work with one tutor or more.

Meet in a free taster session

Your child meets the tutor we think will suit them best and experiences a lesson together. It's a chance to see how they get on before you decide whether you'd like to continue.

Begin ongoing tutoring

If you'd like to continue after the taster, we'll get everything set up for your child to begin their ongoing weekly tutoring.

“Tutoring Heroes has been fantastic for my son’s science learning. Robert is patient, knowledgeable, and explains concepts clearly, building both confidence and understanding. We’ve seen real progress in his work and attitude towards the subject. Highly recommend for anyone looking for supportive, effective tutoring.”

Rachel, mum of a GCSE Science student

“As parents we felt our son needed extra support. His tutor has been patient with our son working at his pace. He has become scientist of the month and his end of year results have shown that he’s now making great progress. He is a lot more confident and happy in class and is showing a genuine interest in science. We are extremely happy and grateful for his tutor Shriya.”

Claire, mum of a Year 8 student

“We have received our son's end of term reports and in particular, his maths PUMA exam results which show a dramatic increase in his ability. He is now well above the median of the class and his teacher has been very impressed with his work. We have also seen an increase in his confidence. He is quite proud of himself as we are of him. We think this is largely down to Mia's good work and her patience. It is quite evident that he enjoys his sessions with Mia. We are really pleased with this result.”

Quentin, dad of a Year 4 student

“This is the second time we have used Tutoring Heroes for supporting my children with their Maths GCSE. On both occasions communication has been excellent and supportive. For my daughter, Niya is excellent at explaining mathematical concepts and works through exam-style questions ensuring my daughter has a clear understanding of the maths involved, how to show working out and how to check answers. My daughter looks forward to the sessions each week. I would highly recommend.”

Mrs Prouten, mum of two GCSE Maths students

“Emily has been helping my son with English. She has listened to the feedback and worked with my son’s teacher to ensure that he achieves better results in his comprehension. My son has improved from 14% to 76% in his second test and 79% in his latest results, showing consistent improvement. As well as that, both Emily and Alan have been very responsive and addressed all questions promptly. Thank you.”

Alexandra, mum of a Year 5 student

“My experience with Tutoring Heroes was excellent. My first year of A-levels was a struggle as my results in Maths and Physics were poor, however coming into my second year I started being tutored by Henry who seriously improved my confidence and understanding of the topics. Henry built a base layer of understanding before taking me out of my comfort zone and really testing me with harder questions. In the lead up to exams I was then tested with exam-style questions and I could really notice the difference from when I first started.”

Harry, A-level Maths & Physics student

“My daughter has had a great experience with her Biology tutoring. Her tutor is calm, relatable, knowledgeable and helpful. The sessions are providing confidence and more security with the A-level course content. The service from Tutoring Heroes has been brilliant. We get regular update reports and a full breakdown of the topics being covered and progress being made. I highly recommend.”

Kate, mum of an A-level Biology student

“We’re so pleased with the support our daughter has received from Tutoring Heroes over the past six months. She started with English and Maths and made such good progress that we've recently added Science too, ahead of her GCSEs next year. Her tutor, Hazel, is kind, patient and thoughtful in how she explains things. She takes the time to ensure our daughter understands and adapts her approach to what works best for her. We’re so grateful for the ongoing support and couldn’t recommend Tutoring Heroes more highly.”

Liz, mum of a GCSE student

“Tutoring Heroes' support enabled our son to achieve his target grades in Maths and English, two grades higher than his predicted grades. His tutor built a great rapport with our son and significantly increased his confidence. Beyond teaching English & Maths, the tutor also helped our son develop valuable study techniques and learning habits that I am sure will benefit him well into the future. Communication with Alan has been excellent and he ensured that the tutor was a good match for our son. I would not hesitate to recommend Tutoring Heroes to other parents.”

Ags, parent of a GCSE student

“Devon tailored the content of the lessons specifically to what my son needed, which helped to build a strong understanding of the fundamentals. Most importantly he was encouraging and supportive throughout, helping to build both skills and confidence. We would definitely recommend using Tutoring Heroes.”

Lucy, mum of a Year 6 student

“My daughter has made a huge improvement since undertaking tutoring - her confidence has grown significantly, she asks questions and her engagement at school has improved. My daughter is inspired by her tutor and looks forward to the session every week and she really enjoys learning. I am so pleased we decided to use Tutoring Heroes.”

Sarah, mum of a Year 4 student

“We have a wonderful tutor teaching our son creative English writing skills and extending language skills and speaking skills. Our Year 8 son can really relate to him and looks forward to the sessions he has. He is always very enthusiastic about telling me what he has learned. I will be extending our use of Tutoring Heroes as we move towards GCSEs as they can help with the subject matter and also focussing on key exam and revision techniques.”

Emma, mum of a Year 8 student

“My son has been studying with Tutoring Heroes online for over a year. He started with one session a week and now has three sessions covering chemistry, maths and English. His school grades have improved significantly, and his confidence has grown a lot — most of this progress has come from Tutoring Heroes. His tutors are positive, supportive and explain things clearly, always finding another way if something doesn’t make sense. Sometimes my son even says he wishes his school teachers were more like them. Thank you, Tutoring Heroes, for such a positive impact on my son’s results and confidence.”

Natalia, mum of a Year 9 student

“Our 13 year old has been doing a maths lesson a week for a couple of years now. He does it as an extra activity to consolidate and improve his skills because he enjoys it. He has comfortably remained in the top set and impressed his teacher. We also added science tutoring and he absolutely smashed his end of year exams, finishing in the top 5% for the year. His tutors are young enough to relate to tweens and teens and build excellent working relationships.”
