Science Tutors Jersey | 1-to-1 Online Tuition

A strong relationship changes how they learn

When your child has a tutor who takes the time to really get to know them and earn their trust, they become more willing to ask questions and say when something doesn't make sense. Learning feels more enjoyable and relevant, building confidence where it's needed and encouraging them to challenge themselves and aim higher academically.

More than the lesson itself

Membership means more than regular one-to-one lessons. It means a carefully chosen tutor who gets to know your child, backed by an academic team that's there for both of you.

We take the time to understand your child and what you're looking for, then choose the tutor from our team we believe is best suited to them.

Someone who really gets to know them

Regular sessions give your child's tutor time to really get to know them. As that relationship develops, so does their understanding of how best to support them.

Getting started

A thoughtful match, from the very first conversation.

Tell us about your child

We want to understand more than the subject or subjects they need support with. Tell us about your child, what they're like, what they enjoy and what you'd like them to achieve through tutoring.

We consider the right tutor

We use what you've told us, alongside your child's academic needs, to decide which of our tutors we think will suit them best. If they need support across more than one subject, we'll also consider whether it's better for them to work with one tutor or more.

Meet in a free taster session

Your child meets the tutor we think will suit them best and experiences a lesson together. It's a chance to see how they get on before you decide whether you'd like to continue.

Begin ongoing tutoring

If you'd like to continue after the taster, we'll get everything set up for your child to begin their ongoing weekly tutoring.

Learning feels like a struggle

They may be finding particular topics difficult, falling behind in a subject or getting results that don't reflect the effort they're putting in.

How Tutoring Heroes began

Our story started in 2019 with maths lessons at Cobo Community Centre in Guernsey, expanding to larger venues and later to Jersey. The Covid-19 pandemic prompted a pivot to online tutoring, letting us pair each student with the perfect tutor regardless of location.

What our online science lessons cover

Key Stage 1 & 2: Earth Science, plants, animals and materials, with fun activities instilling curiosity.

Key Stage 3: more structured learning, lab investigations and scientific writing, preparing for secondary school challenges.

GCSE Combined & Triple Science: Biology (cells, systems, evolution), Physics (forces, energy, electricity), Chemistry (atoms, reactions, periodic table), familiar with all major exam boards.

A-level Science: cell biology/genetics/homeostasis (Biology), organic/inorganic chemistry, mechanics/thermodynamics/nuclear physics (Physics), with maths connections for data interpretation.

Science tutoring for students at all academic levels

We work with students from primary schools like St George's Preparatory School, and secondary schools including Grainville Secondary School, Les Quennevais School, Haute Vallée School, Victoria College and Jersey College for Girls.

Higher education and career opportunities with science

Our tutors have helped students prepare for Medicine and dentistry, Engineering and physics, Environmental science and marine biology, Veterinary science, and Psychology and neuroscience, including applications to institutions like Roehampton, Sheffield and Rutgers University.

Our online platform: A smarter way to learn

The Whiteboard platform allows students to draw diagrams and graphs, annotate slides in real time, work through calculations together, and receive digital notes and homework.

Beyond science: Subjects we also teach

Maths tuition, English literature and language, and occasionally foreign languages depending on tutor availability.
