A strong relationship changes how they learn

When your child has a tutor who takes the time to really get to know them and earn their trust, they become more willing to ask questions and say when something doesn't make sense. Learning feels more enjoyable and relevant, building confidence where it's needed and encouraging them to challenge themselves and aim higher academically.

More than the lesson itself

Membership means more than regular one-to-one lessons. It means a carefully chosen tutor who gets to know your child, backed by an academic team that's there for both of you.

The right tutor from our team

We take the time to understand your child and what you're looking for, then choose the tutor from our team we believe is best suited to them.

Someone who really gets to know them

Regular sessions give your child's tutor time to really get to know them. As that relationship develops, so does their understanding of how best to support them.

We'll keep you updated on your child's progress and make sure you always have experienced educational support to turn to, both for their tutoring and as you navigate the decisions that come with each stage of their education.

Getting started

A thoughtful match, from the very first conversation.

Tell us about your child

We want to understand more than the subject or subjects they need support with. Tell us about your child, what they're like, what they enjoy and what you'd like them to achieve through tutoring.

We consider the right tutor

We use what you've told us, alongside your child's academic needs, to decide which of our tutors we think will suit them best. If they need support across more than one subject, we'll also consider whether it's better for them to work with one tutor or more.

Meet in a free taster session

Your child meets the tutor we think will suit them best and experiences a lesson together. It's a chance to see how they get on before you decide whether you'd like to continue.

Begin ongoing tutoring

If you'd like to continue after the taster, we'll get everything set up for your child to begin their ongoing weekly tutoring.

You know they are capable of more

Their confidence has started to dip

They second-guess their answers, avoid work they find difficult or have started to believe that a subject simply isn't for them.

Learning feels like a struggle

They may be finding particular topics difficult, falling behind in a subject or getting results that don't reflect the effort they're putting in.

They're ready to be pushed further

They may already be doing well but would benefit from greater challenge to keep progressing and aim even higher.

Primary

Build strong foundations in the core subjects while helping your child grow in confidence and develop a positive relationship with learning.

Secondary

Strengthen understanding as subjects become more demanding, tackling difficulties early while helping your child build on their strengths and keep progressing.

GCSE

Strengthen subject knowledge, build confidence and develop effective exam technique, with focused support towards the GCSE grades your child is capable of achieving.

A-level

Develop the deeper subject understanding A-levels demand, mastering more challenging content and working towards ambitious academic goals.

Our story in Guernsey

The move to online learning marked a shift from group sessions to 1-on-1 tutoring, letting each student benefit from a private tutor every week, tailored to their needs. Online tutoring also broadened our talent pool beyond Guernsey to exceptional tutors from across the UK. By 2023, our tutors had supported primary and secondary students from practically every school in Guernsey — from Vale Primary in the north to Ladies College and Guernsey Grammar School, down to St Martin's Primary in the south — helping over 250 students reach their potential, from primary four operations to GCSE quadratics and trigonometry, often exceeding predicted grades by several levels.

Why trust Tutoring Heroes for your child's maths tutor?

Increase skills: a highly selective recruitment process ensures tutors combine in-depth subject knowledge, great communication and the ability to empathise with and inspire young people.

Share enjoyment: tutoring maths through active participation and fun activities geared to each student's personality helps build a genuine passion for the subject.

Boost confidence: private tutoring gives students the 1-on-1 time and specific support that large school classes can't, with regular opportunities to demonstrate progress and build lasting self-belief.

Academic levels that we support

Maths tuition from Key Stage 2, supporting what students learn in school and preventing them falling behind. Support extends to entrance exams (11+, 13+) and SATs preparation for primary students; Key Stage 3 students juggling new subjects and distractions; GCSE students managing coursework, exam boards and time management; and A-level students needing confidence and grades for university entry.
